DTM
PREMIUM RACING WITH GT CARS

The DTM is Germany’s most popular racing series, with a history dating back to 1984.

Since 2021, the DTM has been contested with the globally popular GT3 racing cars. The DNA of the series has remained unchanged: It offers absolute top-class sport with top teams and professional drivers in 16 sprint races lasting just over an hour. All races are broadcast live or re-live in more than 150 territories all around the world.

As the organiser of the DTM, the ADAC focuses on proximity to the fans and the core market of Germany. Six of the eight events will be held in Germany, two more in neighbouring countries.

The issue of sustainability is also close to the ADAC’s heart – just like ABT Sportsline’s. The DTM uses a fuel that consists of 50 per cent sustainable components and, according to the manufacturer, reduces CO2 emissions by at least 20 per cent.

DRIVERS

ABT Sportsline is tackling the 2023 DTM season with two highly motivated drivers: the two ABT Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II cars will be driven by Kelvin van der Linde (South Africa) and Ricardo Feller (Switzerland), who were already teammates at ABT Sportsline in the DTM last year. Despite their young age, both are “old hands” when it comes to GT3 racing and the Audi R8 LMS.

Ricardo Feller

Ricardo Feller is regarded as one of the fastest GT3 drivers in the world, having won the ADAC GT Masters with the Audi R8 LMS at the age of just 21. In his first DTM season in 2022, he finished on the top step of the podium for the first time after just three race weekends, and in 2023 ‘Ricky’ was one of the title contenders right to the end. The youngster comes from a family that runs a car dealership in Switzerland. Feller lives in Suhr between Zurich and Basel.

Kelvin van der Linde

Kempten is Kelvin van der Linde’s second home. Ever since he came to Germany from South Africa as a 17-year-old, he has been supported by ABT. There are few drivers who have more experience at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS, with which he won the ADAC GT Masters twice and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring twice. When the DTM switched to GT3 racing cars in 2021, Kelvin van der Linde was the logical choice for ABT.

CAR
AUDI R8 LMS GT3 evo II

Since 2021, the DTM has been contested with the globally popular GT3 sports cars. ABT has opted for the current version of one of the most successful racing cars in the category, the Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II. It is based on the production model of the Audi R8, whose V10 engine delivers up to 585 hp in race trim. All GT3 sports cars are powered via the rear axle. As very different vehicle concepts compete against each other in the GT3 category, a so-called “Balance of Performance” ensures maximum equality of opportunity. Performance-relevant parameters such as weight and engine power are determined individually for each vehicle.

SUCCESSES

With 75 victories, 251 podiums, five drivers’ and five teams’ championships, ABT is the most successful active DTM team and 2024 will be the 25th season for the team from Kempten in the popular racing series. The success story began with the in-house developed Abt Audi TT-R, with which ABT sensationally won the championship as a private team against the Mercedes-Benz and Opel factory teams in 2002. From 2004 to 2020, ABT was a factory team for Audi in the DTM. In 2007, 2008 and 2009, ABT achieved the only title triple in the history of the DTM. ABT has been successful as a private team in the DTM again since 2021.
